How this estimate is calculated
- Length, width and height give the insulated envelope area, which is priced per square metre at the panel thickness you choose.
- Room type and volume determine the cooling load, which selects a refrigeration unit from the capacity list below.
- Doors are added per unit by type, with an optional anti-condensation frame heater per door.
- Add-ons are charged per room or per project as listed below.

Frequently asked questions
How much does a cold room cost in Egypt?
The two biggest items are the insulated panels, priced per square metre of envelope, and the refrigeration unit, priced by capacity. Both are listed in the table above; the calculator applies them to your exact dimensions.
Which panel thickness do I need?
100 mm is typical for chilled rooms above 0 °C, 150 mm for freezer rooms, and 200 mm for blast freezing and very low temperatures or hot ambient locations. Thicker panels cost more per square metre but reduce running cost.
How is the refrigeration unit size chosen?
From the room volume and target temperature: a pharmaceutical or chilled room at +2 to +8 °C needs far less capacity per cubic metre than a blast freezer. The calculator picks the matching unit from the capacity list and you can see each unit's price above.
Hinged or sliding door?
Hinged doors are the most economical and suit personnel access. Sliding and double-leaf sliding doors suit pallet traffic and wide openings. Add a frame heater on freezer doors to prevent icing and condensation.
Is temperature monitoring included?

Do you build GDP-compliant pharmaceutical cold rooms?
Yes. Select the pharmaceutical room type and the GDP commissioning add-on. Skärpt also performs the thermal mapping and qualification of the finished room as a separate accredited service.
How long does a cold room take to build?
Panel and unit lead time plus on-site assembly; the confirmed schedule is given in the formal quotation after the site survey, since it depends on room size, floor preparation and power availability.
